Who was Saint Dominic Savio?

Saint Dominic Savio, born in 1842 in Riva, Italy, was a model of piety and faith from a very young age. He is most famous for being one of the youngest non-martyr saints to be canonized. Educated under the guidance of Saint John Bosco at the Oratory of St. Francis de Sales in Turin, Dominic was known for his devout religious observance, his deep kindness, and his resolution to avoid sin and lead others to salvation. His motto, "Death rather than sin," exemplifies his commitment to his faith.

Dominic Savio is the patron saint of choirboys, the falsely accused, and juvenile delinquents, reflecting his young age and his own virtuous life, which was an example to his peers. His feast day is celebrated on May 6th. Dominic died at the tender age of 14, his health compromised by an undiagnosed illness, but his short life was marked by spiritual maturity and grace. He was canonized in 1954 by Pope Pius XII.
